Our mixed-methods study drew on in-depth interviews and a survey of workers across the US to examine the composition, experiences, and nature of delivery work. Project publications examined and conceptualized workers’ experiences of algorithmic control (see Griesbach et al 2019) and the salience of gender for workers’ orientations to and experiences of their work (see Milkman et al 2020). I had the privilege of working as a Writing Consultant at the Columbia University Writing Center for four years, from fall 2016 through spring 2020. Drawing on these and other skills, my colleague and I started a writing cooperative for writing coaching and academic editing in 2018. I worked with writers on academic articles, as well as dissertations, theses, and other genres across disciplines, including academic and job applications and creative work. This background informs both my writing and teaching practice.
